Back to Glossary

Description

Stocks that are not available to be borrowed for short selling due to high demand or low supply.

An unborrowable stock is one that cannot be borrowed for the purpose of short selling because there’s either insufficient supply or exceptionally high demand among lenders. This situation can occur with stocks that are tightly held or when there’s significant bullish sentiment, making them unavailable for short positions.
